About My Bible First

My Bible First offers chronologically arranged Bible lessons for every age, Beginners, Kindergarten, Primary, Juniors, and Youth, along with a wide range of supplemental materials. Every lesson is biblically accurate and traces the gospel through the great controversy, from its first proclamation in Eden to its glorious culmination in the earth made new. The result is not just Bible stories, but a solid, sequential understanding of God’s redemptive plan that grows with your child.

How It All Began

In 2000, a small group of Sabbath School leaders at Three Angels’ Church in Wichita, Kansas, began praying for the children in their Sabbath schools. They recognized the need for a Sabbath School curriculum that would genuinely reach children’s hearts and provide families with material for family worship throughout the week.

God answered through the late Amy Sherrard, a gifted writer, seasoned missionary, and passionate advocate for child evangelism. Drawing deeply from Scripture and the Spirit of Prophecy, Amy created lessons that brought the Bible to life for children of every age.

At first, these lessons were used only at the Three Angels’ Church, but word quickly spread. Visitors carried them back to their own congregations. It was the early days of the internet, and a homeschool website gave the lessons a glowing recommendation. Soon families and churches were calling from everywhere, requesting copies. The little office printer couldn’t keep up. Amy’s son-in-law stepped in to help purchase a full-color industrial printer, and My Bible First was officially born.

Sherry Mills is the daughter of Amy Sherrard. She and her husband Phil started printing the My Bible First lessons in their basement in Wichita, KS. When they relocated to first Georgia then Tennessee, the business moved with them. Under their care, My Bible First has outgrown their home and now has its own office and printing facilities! While ostensibly retiring in 2022, they remain actively involved. In their free time they enjoy spending time with their six grandchildren.

Elwood and Amy Sherrard were lifelong students of the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy. Driven by a shared passion to carry God’s Word to all the world, they served as overseas missionaries for twenty years.

Amy was a gifted writer—vivacious, creative, and endlessly positive. As a storyteller, she could hold any audience captive, young or old, drawing out practical lessons from the Bible narratives and showing children how its truths apply to their own lives.

Elwood was her ideal complement: quiet, methodical, and meticulous—and an exceptional editor. Together, their gifts produced lessons that were both deeply meaningful and genuinely interesting.

Elwood and Amy are resting in their graves now, awaiting their summons from the great Life-Giver!
